I’m Full

January 30, 2009

I was out with a bunch of friends for an evening talking about media and technology issues. I’d told yuka that I’d be home too late to cook, so she was on her own. Unfortunately I was hungry by 8:30, when I got home, but yuka let me go back to Gamelle for dinner. First […]

Should atheist groups be allowed to buy advertising space on the TTC?

January 29, 2009

CP24‘s poll: Should atheist groups be allowed to buy advertising space on the TTC? is interesting. There are so many offensive commercial ads in public. One like this that merely gets people thinking is great. It isn’t a question that bothers me one way or another, but I like it anyway.

Gamelle Restaurant Toronto

January 28, 2009

Yuka and I went to the wonderful Gamelle Restaurant last night. It is a few doors down from our house. They had a special chef and menu and it was stellar. I can’t say I like multi course meals, but I’m really happy we experimented. The Granita and Marechal Foch from Sandbanks Estate Winery were […]

Middlebrow Messiahs by Brendan Boyle, City Journal 16 January 2009

January 27, 2009

Jeremy said: This is an interesting take on the great books model of higher education. The model where we read in order to learn to think, to learn to create, to learn to be. I think it is an interesting model, and I find that my students are generally unread in terms of classics and […]

ZOOBOMBS – Mo’ Funky

January 26, 2009

Everyone knows that I’m cognitively impaired… in more ways than one. The biggest problem for me is names and faces. Names are too arbitrary, and faces all look like… well faces. But I never give up, and never surrender. I was getting teased by some students, good naturedly, about it, and then I jumped on […]

Bob Jordan Artist Toronto Ontario Canada

January 25, 2009

Check out my friend Bob’s new site. We’ve been having dinner with Bob a couple times a year over at Vlad and Masako’s house. He paints, and we talk about stuff like that. Last night he came over with some paintings and gave us each one. They’re wonderful and will match our renovations. Thanks BOB!
